Motorcyclist Injured in High-Speed Crash on I-45 in Houston
HOUSTON – A motorcyclist sustained life-threatening injuries following a crash on I-45 Saturday night while attempting to evade law enforcement, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).
At approximately 7:30 p.m., a DPS trooper observed a motorcycle without a license plate traveling at a high speed. The rider accelerated away from the trooper during the attempted traffic stop.
Authorities reported the motorcycle exited the freeway, turned around, and re-entered I-45, weaving through traffic. The pursuit concluded near Exit 41A, where the motorcycle crashed into a metal barrier at speeds exceeding 100 mph.
The rider suffered critical injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Investigators noted that the motorcyclist has a history of warrants related to evading police and other misdemeanors.
The trooper involved in the incident was not injured. The investigation is being conducted by DPS.
