Motorcyclist Killed, Teen Critically Injured in Head-On Crash in Anne Arundel County

BRISTOL, Md. — A head-on collision on Maryland Route 4 resulted in the death of a motorcyclist and critical injuries to a teenage passenger on Tuesday night, according to Anne Arundel County Police.

David Martin Sweet Jr., 39, of Lothian, was reportedly driving a Yamaha sport bike in the wrong direction near Maryland Route 258 when he collided with a car. The impact threw the motorcycle into the woods, where it subsequently caught fire.

Sweet was pronounced dead at the scene. A 14-year-old passenger on the motorcycle was airlifted to Johns Hopkins Hospital and is currently in critical but stable condition. The driver of the car was also flown to the University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center as a precaution; their condition has been reported as stable.

Authorities said an investigation into the crash is ongoing, with no further details released at this time.
