Motorcyclist killed in collision with tour bus in Kane County.

KANE COUNTY, UT — A 45-year-old man died in a motorcycle crash involving a tour bus on State Route 89 Monday evening.

According to the Utah Department of Public Safety, the crash occurred around 5:40 p.m. as the man was riding a Yamaha motorcycle and attempted to make a U-turn. A Vanhool tour bus, carrying 29 passengers primarily from the UK, was traveling northbound toward Kanab when it struck the motorcycle head-on.

Lt. Cameron Roden with the Utah Highway Patrol reported that the motorcyclist was ejected from the bike, landing in the southbound lane. He was pronounced dead shortly after 7 p.m.

The tour bus skidded left and came to rest off the roadway, with the motorcycle trapped under its right bumper. The bus driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to a hospital, while two passengers reported minor injuries but did not seek medical treatment.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident. Lanes were briefly closed for emergency response but have since been reopened.
