PHILADELPHIA — A 33-year-old motorcyclist died following a crash on an elevated exit ramp from I-95 in Old City late Monday night.
The incident occurred just before 11 p.m. at the intersection of Callowhill and 2nd streets, according to Philadelphia Police. The victim, identified as Karl Kirschner from Pottstown, was found unresponsive, still wearing his helmet.
Pennsylvania State Police located Kirschner’s motorcycle on the right shoulder of the ramp from I-95 south to I-676 west after an area search. Authorities reported that Kirschner was ejected from his motorcycle during the crash, landing on the street below.
He was transported to Jefferson University Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and authorities have not confirmed if other vehicles were involved or the cause of the crash.
No lane closures were reported as a result of this incident.
