PALO ALTO – An 18-year-old man was arrested Thursday in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred early morning in Palo Alto.
The collision took place at approximately 6:05 a.m. in the transition lane from University Avenue to southbound Highway 101, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The motorcyclist involved in the incident died at the scene.
Authorities reported that the driver struck the motorcyclist and failed to stop as required. During their investigation, officers discovered a license plate from the suspect vehicle at the scene. The plate led investigators to identify the car as an Acura TL sedan, which was later found abandoned in Sunnyvale.
Around 12:15 p.m., the driver, identified as Julian Adame Jr. of Kingsburg, Fresno County, was located in Cutler, Tulare County, and apprehended on suspicion of felony hit-and-run and vehicular manslaughter. He was subsequently booked into San Mateo County Jail.
CHP Redwood City area Cmdr. Patrick Etchebame expressed condolences, stating, “Our thoughts are with the victim’s family and loved ones, whose life was lost in this senseless crash.” He emphasized that through dedicated investigative efforts and collaboration with allied agencies, the suspect was apprehended within hours. The investigation is ongoing.
