LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – A motorcycle crash at Veterans Memorial Parkway and U.S. 231 on Tuesday claimed the life of 21-year-old Ashley Ray.
The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. when a Honda CR-V, driven by 69-year-old Joseph Gross, attempted a left turn.
Authorities said Gross was traveling southbound on U.S. 231 and failed to yield while crossing northbound lanes.
Ray, who was traveling northbound on U.S. 231, collided with the CR-V at the intersection.
Ray was ejected from her motorcycle and struck another vehicle that was stopped at a red light.
Emergency responders pronounced Ray dead at the scene; the investigation remains ongoing.
The crash led to short-term lane closures on U.S. 231 for accident investigation and cleanup, according to the TIPPECANOE COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT.
