A hit-and-run crash on Interstate 95 North in Darien, Connecticut, claimed the life of a motorcycle rider on Tuesday morning.
The incident occurred at 6:49 a.m. near the Northbound Darien Rest Area. Authorities said a 2022-2026 Toyota Tundra pickup truck collided with a 2022 Triumph Rocket 3 GT motorcycle driven by 34-year-old Alexander Rivera in the right lane, just before the exit ramp.
Following the collision, Rivera’s motorcycle went through the gore of the ramp and landed in the grassy median of the rest area, where it flipped over. Rivera suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The pickup truck did not remain at the scene, according to police. Investigators believe the vehicle is missing its side-view mirror and exhibits damage consistent with a sideswipe crash.
Authorities are seeking witnesses or anyone with information regarding the incident. Individuals can contact Trooper Daniel Sottini at Daniel.Sottini@ct.gov or call 203-696-2500.
