FALL RIVER, Mass. —
A wrong-way motorcycle crash on the Braga Bridge in Fall River left a 32-year-old man seriously injured on Saturday at 12:30 p.m.
According to authorities, the incident began while Massachusetts State Police were assisting a motorist with a disabled vehicle in the breakdown lane. A Yamaha Sportbike approached at high speed, weaving between lanes before the rider turned around and drove against traffic.
The motorcycle collided with a Massachusetts State Police cruiser and another vehicle in the eastbound lane, authorities said.
After the crash, the motorcyclist abandoned the motorcycle and attempted to cross lanes on the westbound side of the bridge, where he was struck by another vehicle, sustaining significant injuries.
He was transported to Rhode Island Hospital for medical treatment. The Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit is continuing to investigate the incident.
Lane closures were in effect during the response and investigation, but all lanes have since reopened.
