Del Mar Heights Motorcycle Crash Leaves Rider Seriously Injured
A 71-year-old motorcyclist sustained serious injuries in a multi-vehicle crash in Del Mar Heights, San Diego County, on Wednesday afternoon.
According to the San Diego Police Department, the collision occurred at approximately 3:16 p.m. in the 13800 block of Mango Drive. The motorcyclist, riding a 2017 Ducati northbound, collided with a 2025 Chevy Traxx driven by a 51-year-old woman, who was attempting a left turn from a parking lot directly into the motorcycle’s path.
The force of the impact caused the motorcycle to strike a third vehicle, a 2017 Lexus driven by a 21-year-old man heading southbound, resulting in the rider being ejected from the Ducati. First responders transported the rider to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, including a compound fracture and an open tibia/fibula fracture to the right leg.
Authorities stated that alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash. The San Diego Police Department’s Traffic Division is conducting the investigation into the incident, and lane closures were enacted during emergency response efforts.
