A two-vehicle crash on I-84 near Vernon resulted in one fatality and multiple injuries on October 3 at 2:41 p.m.
According to the CONNECTICUT STATE POLICE, a pickup truck and a tractor-trailer collided, causing the pickup to catch fire. One driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
A passenger in the pickup truck sustained life-threatening injuries, while the truck’s operator suffered minor injuries. Emergency responders from the local fire department provided medical aid.
The accident prompted a full closure of the westbound lanes of I-84 for several hours as investigators conducted a thorough examination of the scene. Traffic was diverted to exit 65.
