Nevada Reports Zero Fatalities as New Data Shows Decrease in Traffic Accidents.

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – A recent report from the Nevada Office of Traffic Safety reveals a decrease in overall fatal vehicle crashes in the state.

However, the National Transportation Research nonprofit, TRIP, indicates Nevada ranks 11th nationally for fatal traffic accidents, with fatalities in 2025 being 18% higher than a decade ago.

In Washoe County, pedestrian-related crashes have surged, with 11 fatalities reported in 2026, an increase from seven at the same time last year, according to Anita Pepper, Public Information Officer for the Nevada Office of Traffic Safety.

As thousands of motorcyclists participate in Street Vibrations across Washoe County, they are cautioned to stay vigilant following two recent fatal motorcycle crashes.

On Saturday, two motorcyclists were killed in a head-on collision with a vehicle in Gardnerville. Additionally, a fatal incident involving a pickup truck and a motorcycle occurred on the 22nd in Dayton.

Crashes are Preventable

Pepper emphasized that many of these accidents are preventable, urging motorists to avoid impaired driving, buckle up, and stay attentive on the road.

She advised passengers to refuse rides from impaired drivers and to take action if someone else is behind the wheel while impaired.
