New Jersey Motorcyclist Succumbs to Injuries a Week After I-80 Crash in Monroe County.

A motorcycle collision with a box truck in a construction zone on Interstate 80 East resulted in a man’s death, according to authorities.

The incident occurred at approximately 8:16 p.m. on August 25 near mile marker 304.9. Pennsylvania State Police at Stroudsburg reported that Albert R. VanRiper III, 71, of Montville, New Jersey, was struck while riding a 2024 Harley-Davidson in the right lane.

Authorities stated traffic was slowing due to construction that had closed the left lane. A 2020 Ford box truck driven by Navpreet Fnu, 24, of Pompton Plains, New Jersey, was traveling behind the motorcycle. Investigators noted that the truck driver attempted to brake but could not avoid the collision.

VanRiper was thrown onto the roadway and came to rest in the left lane. He was airlifted to Cedar Crest Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries a week later. Police confirmed he was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The truck driver was not injured in the crash. State police have charged Fnu with following too closely.
