A Piscataway woman was killed Thursday morning in a chain-reaction crash on I-80, leading to three additional injuries.
The incident occurred around 8:08 a.m. at mile marker 34.5 in Wharton, according to New Jersey State Police. Authorities said 39-year-old Tisha Hutchinson was driving westbound in a Subaru SUV when an Audi SUV struck her vehicle from behind.
Hutchinson’s Subaru veered into a guardrail after the initial impact and was then struck by a Pontiac passenger vehicle, which subsequently collided with a Chevrolet SUV.
State Police confirmed Hutchinson sustained fatal injuries. The driver of the Audi, along with two juvenile passengers, were injured and transported to a local hospital; their injuries have been described as moderate.
Emergency response led to lane closures while authorities worked to clear the scene. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
