New Jersey News 12 Reports on Latest State Developments.

A child was killed and two drivers hospitalized in a crash on the New Jersey Turnpike in East Windsor.

According to NJ State Police, the collision occurred around 1:29 a.m. in the truck lanes. A southbound Freightliner tractor-trailer struck the rear of a southbound Subaru with a juvenile passenger in the back seat.

After the initial impact, the tractor-trailer collided with a Volvo box truck before leaving the roadway and hitting a guardrail. Authorities confirmed the child in the Subaru sustained fatal injuries, while both drivers were treated for moderate injuries.

The drivers of the Freightliner and Subaru were transported to a local hospital for medical care. The crash caused significant delays in the southbound truck lanes, and the car lanes were closed overnight due to ongoing construction.

The incident remains under investigation by state police. No further information has been released.
