NHP: Impairment and speed identified as factors in fatal motorcycle crash in Virginia City.

Motorcyclist Killed in SR341 Crash Near Virginia City on Sunday Evening

A fatal motorcycle crash occurred on SR341 just north of D Street in Virginia City, Nevada, on July 12, 2026, at approximately 8:50 p.m.

According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, a 34-year-old male rider, identified as Stephen Klein from Reno, was traveling northbound when he lost control while navigating a left curve. The motorcycle, a black Harley-Davidson, veered off the right side of the roadway and struck a guardrail, ejecting Klein from the vehicle. The motorcycle overturned and came to rest across the northbound lane.

Klein was pronounced deceased at the scene. Authorities suspect that speed and possible driver impairment contributed to the crash.

The Nevada Highway Patrol Major Incident Reconstruction Team is actively investigating the incident.
