Oahu records its 21st traffic fatality of 2026 following a motorcycle crash.

KAPOLEI, HI – An 18-year-old motorcyclist died following a crash late Tuesday night on Kalaeloa Boulevard.

According to police, the incident occurred around 10:59 p.m. on the eastbound off-ramp, where Gabriel Gonzales of Texas lost control of his motorcycle and struck a concrete barrier.

Gonzales was ejected onto the roadway and was transported by Emergency Medical Services to a hospital in serious condition, where he later died.

Authorities confirmed he was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

Investigators believe speed was a contributing factor in the crash; it remains unclear if drugs or alcohol were involved.

This incident marks Oahu’s 21st traffic fatality of the year, a decrease from 39 fatalities at this time last year.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
