Three Serious Motorcycle Accidents in Delaware Under Investigation
Authorities are investigating a series of motorcycle accidents that occurred in Delaware from the evening of July 12 to the afternoon of July 13, 2026.
The first incident happened around 11 p.m. on July 12 on Route 7 at the curve to Main Street in Stanton. According to the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit, a 25-year-old Newark man lost control of his motorcycle while traveling southbound on Limestone Road, crashing into a curb and being ejected. He was pronounced dead at Christiana Hospital on July 13.
A second motorcycle accident occurred Monday, July 13, at approximately 3:15 p.m. on Forrest Avenue and Kenton Road in Dover. Authorities reported that 43-year-old Jessica Lopez of Hartley allegedly ran a red light, colliding with a motorcycle operated by a 67-year-old man who was ejected from his bike. He was transported to Christiana Hospital in serious condition. Lopez displayed signs of impairment, and officers found heroin and drug paraphernalia in her vehicle. She was treated for minor injuries and later arrested on charges including Vehicular Assault First Degree and DUI.
Additionally, a third incident took place Monday evening on Newport Gap Pike north of Milltown Road. A motorcyclist was injured in a collision with a van and was treated on-site by New Castle County EMS before being taken to Christiana Hospital.
