MIDDLETOWN, CT — A motorcycle operator sustained life-threatening injuries in a crash involving a car at the intersection of Country Club Road and Higby Road on Monday afternoon.
Emergency responders were dispatched at approximately 4:12 p.m. The operator was airlifted to Hartford Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
Authorities reported that the driver of the car fled the scene in another vehicle. Initially, the female passenger claimed she was driving the car; however, subsequent video evidence revealed that a male was behind the wheel.
Police arrested both individuals following the investigation. The driver, Marco Jefferson Chamorro Cordova, 19, faces multiple charges, including second-degree assault with a motor vehicle and driving under the influence. The passenger, Diana Anton Peralta, 21, is charged with interfering with an officer.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident. Lane closures were required during the response and investigation.
