One person dies in South Jordan motorcycle and vehicle collision.

One person was killed in a motorcycle and SUV collision in South Jordan on Tuesday evening.

The incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. near South Jordan Parkway (10400 South) and Redwood Road.

According to authorities, the 31-year-old motorcyclist collided with the SUV, resulting in severe injuries.

The impact dislodged the motorcyclist’s helmet, which became stuck in the SUV’s window. He was transported to an area hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.

The SUV driver reported no injuries, officials said.

The investigation is ongoing, with speed being considered a potential factor, though no determination of fault has been made.

Both directions of Redwood Road were closed from South Jordan Parkway to 9650 South. Drivers were advised to use alternate routes, with no current estimate for reopening.

This marks the sixth fatal crash and second motorcycle-related fatality in South Jordan this year. An 18-year-old motorcyclist was killed in another incident on July 9.

That crash involved two motorcycles traveling at high speeds on 11400 South, with one striking a vehicle.
