A Penn State student died following a motorcycle crash in Ferguson Township on Friday night, according to local police.
The incident occurred at approximately 8:46 p.m. at the intersection of Blue Course Drive and Westerly Parkway, involving a Hyundai Elantra and a motorcycle. Authorities reported that Rashid Alnuwaymi, a 20-year-old student, was stopped in the northbound lane of Blue Course Drive when he was struck from behind by the Hyundai, which was also traveling north.
Alnuwaymi was airlifted by medical helicopter from the scene to UPMC Williamsport, where he was pronounced neurologically deceased after emergency medical efforts.
A spokesperson for Penn State expressed condolences, stating, “We are deeply saddened by the tragic accident of Rashid Alnuwaymi, a third-semester student studying engineering, and extend our heartfelt thoughts to his family and friends during this unthinkable time.”
