WATERFORD, Conn. — A 55-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a guardrail on Route 32 Southbound late Saturday night, according to authorities.
The accident occurred at 11:20 p.m. near Smith Grove Road. The rider, identified as Thomas Peabody of Westerly, R.I., was pronounced dead at the scene.
Emergency responders discovered a Harley Davidson FLHXS motorcycle that had struck the guardrail, ejecting Peabody into a wooded area adjacent to the roadway. Witnesses reported no other vehicles were involved in the incident.
The Shoreline Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team (START) is assisting the Waterford Police Department with the ongoing investigation. Further details on injuries or traffic disruptions were not immediately available.
