RICHMOND, Ky. (LEX 18) — A family seeks answers following the fatal motorcycle crash of Bill Wason, 72, near Buc-ee’s on August 27.
Wason was struck while riding his motorcycle, and authorities confirmed he died at the scene. The driver involved remained on-site, and no charges have been filed.
The incident occurred as Wason’s wife, Connie, was preparing to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. “My faith is my rock. It’s gotten us through many things over the 49 years we were married,” she said.
Bill Wason was a dedicated member of the community, serving in the National Guard for 40 years and actively participating in local organizations such as the VFW, American Legion, and Knights of Columbus. Witnesses reported strong community support for Connie during this challenging time.
Connie expressed feelings of uncertainty regarding the circumstances of the crash. “He was careful enough that he made me feel safe,” she said, noting her trust in Bill’s driving skills. “We just want to find out exactly what happened that day.”
As she copes with the loss and raises her 11-year-old grandson, Connie is hoping for clarity surrounding the incident.
