PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. (WSET) — A motorcycle accident on Monday claimed the life of 40-year-old Nicolas Paul Samuels, an investigator with the Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash occurred around 5:15 p.m. on South Boston Road in Danville. According to authorities, a car collided with Samuels while he was riding his motorcycle.
Emergency responders from the Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office and local fire departments were on scene. Samuels sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the site.
Authorities confirmed that the driver of the car remained on scene and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation. No charges have been reported at this time.
The sheriff’s office expressed their condolences, highlighting Samuels’s dedication to his work, his fellow officers, and the community. They noted, “His service mattered… and it will not be forgotten.”
A funeral service for Investigator Samuels is scheduled for this weekend at Dan River Church.
