SPEARFISH, S.D. (KOTA) – A 56-year-old man was killed Saturday in a motorcycle crash on Interstate 90, just east of Spearfish.
The incident occurred at approximately 5:45 p.m. near mile marker 19. Authorities said the victim was riding a 1995 Harley-Davidson FLHTCU westbound when he lost control and was thrown from the motorcycle.
Emergency responders transported the man to a Spearfish hospital, where he was later transferred to a Rapid City facility, where he succumbed to his injuries Sunday.
According to the South Dakota Highway Patrol, the rider was not wearing a helmet. His identity has not been disclosed pending family notification.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and additional details may be released as they become available.
