A motorcyclist was killed in a collision on Highway 46 Sunday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP reports that at approximately 9:30 p.m., Russell Palomino, 47, of Visalia, was riding a 2024 Harley Davidson eastbound on Highway 46, just east of Geneseo Road, at a high rate of speed.
A 21-year-old resident of Shandon was also traveling eastbound in a 2019 Toyota Corolla, exceeding 65 miles per hour, ahead of Palomino.
Authorities say Palomino’s motorcycle struck the rear of the Corolla, leading to his ejection from the bike. He succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
No injuries were reported for the occupants of the Corolla, which crossed into the westbound lanes and came to rest on the right shoulder after the impact, CHP stated.
Investigators are looking into whether drugs or alcohol contributed to the incident.
