Washington State Patrol (WSP) is requesting witnesses and dashcam footage related to a fatal collision on southbound State Route 167 near Auburn on September 28.
At 12:46 PM, a 2025 black Porsche 911, driven by a 28-year-old Seattle man, collided with a bright green Kawasaki motorcycle operated by 24-year-old Zachary T. Johnston of Kent. The vehicles were reportedly traveling at high speeds in the far right lane when the Porsche moved over to lane three and struck the motorcycle.
Johnston, who was wearing a helmet, was ejected from the motorcycle and was pronounced dead at the scene prior to the arrival of first responders. Roadway closures lasted for over four hours following the incident.
Initial findings by WSP indicated that speed and an improper lane change contributed to the accident. On October 1, the driver of the Porsche was taken into custody for investigation of vehicular homicide under the reckless driving statute.
WSP detectives urge anyone with additional information or dashcam footage to contact Detective John Ford at john.ford@wsp.wa.gov.
