State Police Probe Severe Motorcycle Crash on Interstate 481 in Cicero.

CICERO, NY — A serious motorcycle crash involving an SUV occurred on Interstate 481 southbound at approximately 9:07 a.m. on July 15, 2026, according to the New York State Police.

Authorities stated that Zachary H. Mills, 29, from Oswego, was riding a 2017 Harley-Davidson motorcycle when he struck the left rear of a 2025 Mazda CX-50 driven by Kevin J. Donahue, 37, from Pennellville. Donahue activated his right turn signal and began merging into an adjacent lane as traffic slowed.

The collision ejected Mills from his motorcycle, causing him to hit the guide rail. He sustained severe injuries and was transported to Upstate University Hospital, where he remains in critical but stable condition. Donahue was unharmed in the incident.

Interstate 481 southbound was temporarily closed as the New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit processed the scene. The roadway has since reopened. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
