A multi-vehicle crash in downtown Nashville resulted in two fatalities and several injuries on Monday afternoon, Oct. 9, authorities said.
The incident, involving three cars and a motorcycle, occurred at approximately 4:25 p.m. on Broadway near 5th Avenue. One 42-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman were pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Nashville Police Department.
Five other individuals sustained injuries and were transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment. Two of the injured are in critical condition, officials confirmed.
Emergency responders from the Nashville Fire Department arrived within minutes and worked to secure the area. Traffic was significantly affected, with multiple lane closures along Broadway while an investigation into the cause of the crash is underway.
Authorities have not released additional details as they continue to gather information.
