A motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a box truck in Meridian on Monday afternoon.
The accident occurred around 3:56 p.m. when a 34-year-old Caldwell man driving a box truck south on North Locust Grove Road attempted to turn left onto East Ustick Road, according to an Idaho State Police news release. An 18-year-old Meridian man on a Yamaha motorcycle was traveling north at that time.
Authorities reported that the motorcycle struck the box truck in the intersection, resulting in the motorcyclist’s death at the scene. The box truck driver did not sustain injuries and was not transported to a hospital.
The Meridian Police Department is collaborating with Idaho State Police to investigate the incident and determine the cause of the crash.
The identity of the motorcycle driver will be released by the Ada County Coroner’s Office at a later date.
The road was closed for approximately five hours following the collision. The Meridian Fire Department and Ada County Paramedics responded to the scene.
