Motorcycle Crash After Police Pursuit Leaves One Dead in League City
LEAGUE CITY, TX—A motorcycle crash following a police pursuit resulted in a fatality on Monday, Authorities confirmed. The incident occurred around 3:40 p.m. in the 900 block of West Main Street.
According to the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office, officers from the League City Police Department observed two motorcycles traveling eastbound on the north sidewalk of FM 518 before entering the roadway at a high rate of speed. Officers attempted a traffic stop but discontinued the pursuit due to safety concerns.
Shortly after the pursuit ended, one of the motorcycles collided with a pickup truck, resulting in the death of the rider, identified as 19-year-old Maxwell Henley. The second rider, 22-year-old Carson Drucker, was taken into custody at the scene and charged with Evading Arrest in a Vehicle. He is being held on a $250,000 bond.
Authorities stated Drucker also had an outstanding felony warrant from Harris County for failing to register as a sex offender.
West Main Street remained closed for several hours as investigators processed the scene, reopening at 6:55 p.m. Per standard procedure, an outside agency will take over the investigation due to the involvement of the pursuing agency.
