A two-vehicle collision on Highway 287 in Lubbock resulted in one fatality on Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash occurred at approximately 1:45 p.m. near the intersection with Loop 289 when a 2020 Ford Explorer traveling south collided with a 2018 Honda Civic heading north.
The driver of the Honda, a 34-year-old woman from Lubbock, was pronounced dead at the scene. She was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
The Ford’s driver reportedly sustained minor injuries and was treated at a local hospital. Both vehicles were removed from the scene by local towing companies.
Authorities reported that the speed limit on this section of roadway was 65 mph. The conditions were clear at the time of the incident, which is currently under investigation by the Texas Highway Patrol.
