Thomasville Father Reflects on Son’s Life Following Fatal Motorcycle Crash in South Carolina.

MURRELLS INLET, S.C. (WBTW) — A 26-year-old man died from injuries sustained in a motorcycle crash on May 24, authorities confirmed.

The incident occurred shortly after 5 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 17 Business and Mount Gilead Road, according to the Horry County Coroner’s Office. Christian Lopp, a resident of Thomasville, was vacationing in the area when the crash happened.

Witnesses reported that Lopp was attempting to merge onto US 17 Business when he checked traffic and collided with a stopped vehicle, causing him to lose control and go over the handlebars. He remained in critical condition for 12 days at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center before succumbing to his injuries on June 5.

“Christian was a kind man who always made time to help others,” said his father, Jeff Lopp. He expressed gratitude for the 26 years he had with his son and emphasized the importance of compassion and forgiveness, reflecting on Christian’s forgiving nature.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. No additional details, including the number of vehicles involved or lane closures, have been released as of yet.

The Horry County Police Department, along with medical personnel, responded to the scene. Further updates will be provided as they become available.
