POCAHONTAS COUNTY, W.Va. (WCHS) — A helicopter crash in Pocahontas County on Friday morning resulted in one fatality, authorities confirmed.
Leo Basile, 57, of Arthurdale, W.Va., was found deceased at the scene, according to the West Virginia State Police.
The crash involved a Sikorsky S76D helicopter owned by Waco Oil & Gas, with Basile as the sole occupant.
Emergency responders reported the incident occurred around 7:45 a.m. in the Huntersville area near Marlinton, W.Va., as noted by the Federal Aviation Administration.
Investigators from the West Virginia State Police, National Transportation Safety Board, and FAA are actively examining the circumstances surrounding the crash.
