TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) – A motorcyclist died following a collision with a pickup truck at South Cardinal Avenue and West Valencia Road early Sunday morning.
According to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, a 2017 Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling westbound on Valencia Road when it struck a 2023 Ford F-150 pickup truck making a left turn from the eastbound lanes. The motorcycle’s driver and passenger were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The driver, identified as 34-year-old Alejandro Daniel Ruiz Leon, later died at the hospital. The female passenger sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Leon was not wearing a helmet, while the passenger was.
The pickup truck’s driver and passenger were evaluated at the scene and did not require hospitalization. Preliminary investigations suggest that speed and potential impairment by Leon may have contributed to the crash.
The investigation remains ongoing.
