Two Delaware County constables injured in transport accident while taking prisoners to district court.

Two Delaware County Constables sustained minor injuries in a multi-vehicle accident Wednesday morning on Conchester Highway.

The incident occurred at approximately 10:40 a.m. at Bethel Avenue, according to Michael Connolly, Delaware County Director of Communications.

Two constables and eight prisoners were being transported from George W. Hill Correctional Facility to Chester District Court using two vehicles, Connolly reported.

While the county-owned vehicle was not involved in the collision, it had to stop abruptly. It was the second vehicle in the convoy.

One constable required assistance from the fire department to exit the vehicle due to minor injuries, while both constables were evaluated for additional injuries.

Authorities confirmed that all drivers and passengers in the involved vehicles received medical evaluations for minor injuries. The exact details of what was struck remain unspecified, but emergency radio traffic indicated a tractor-trailer was involved in the accident.

No fatalities were reported. The investigation is ongoing, and no additional details regarding lane closures or tows have been released at this time.
