Two crashes in San Antonio overnight Friday resulted in the deaths of two men on the West Side and South Side.
At approximately 8:30 p.m., a 63-year-old driver, identified as Luis Martinez, traveled north in the southbound lanes of Roosevelt Avenue near Loop 410. Authorities reported that Martinez collided head-on with another vehicle while attempting to switch lanes. He succumbed to his injuries at a hospital several hours later, with preliminary reports indicating possible intoxication at the scene.
Later, at 1:20 a.m., a motorcyclist, Hector Hernandez, 67, was fatally injured at the intersection of West Commerce Street and Southwest 24th Street. Authorities said Hernandez attempted to turn left when he was struck by a Ford pickup truck that had a green light. The truck driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators; no signs of intoxication were observed.
Emergency responders attended both incidents, and investigations are ongoing.
