Cranford, NJ – Two teenage girls, aged 15 and 17, died Monday night when they were struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run incident near Burnside Avenue and Lincoln Avenue.
The collision occurred around 8:30 p.m. Witnesses reported hearing tires screeching before the vehicle fled the scene. Local law enforcement quickly secured the area and began an investigation.
Emergency responders arrived on the scene to provide assistance, but the girls were pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities said the driver is still unidentified, and the Union County Prosecutor’s Office is leading the investigation.
Witnesses described the aftermath as chaotic, with numerous residents gathering and attempting to help. In the wake of the incident, local teens expressed increased anxiety about biking or walking in the neighborhood.
