TxDOT report reveals identity of DWI suspect involved in fatal South Side motorcycle crash.

SAN ANTONIO – A motorcyclist was killed and a driver arrested on suspicion of DWI following a crash on State Highway 16 early Sunday morning.

According to the Texas Department of Transportation, 35-year-old Allan Ortega was traveling southbound at a high rate of speed when he collided with the rear of a Chevrolet Tahoe in the 14000 block of the highway.

Authorities said the Tahoe’s driver lost control, veered into another lane, and flipped onto its hood. Ortega was subsequently ejected from his motorcycle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Tahoe’s driver, identified as 38-year-old Fred Guitron, and his passenger were not injured. However, Guitron was evaluated and found to be intoxicated at the time of the crash, according to San Antonio police. He was arrested and charged with suspicion of driving while intoxicated.

In their preliminary report, police stated that Guitron’s intoxication did not contribute to the crash. Further investigation is ongoing.

No lane closures were reported, and towing services were on the scene to assist.
