INDIAN HEAD, Md. — A two-vehicle crash on Indian Head Highway resulted in the death of a 27-year-old Virginia man on Dec. 22, 2025.
Emergency responders received reports of the collision around 5:32 p.m. at Maryland Route 210 and Crestwood Place. The driver of a Nissan Altima, identified as Benjamin Ruschell Jr. of Alexandria, Virginia, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Maryland State Police.
The operator of the second vehicle, a Toyota FJ Cruiser driven by a 28-year-old man, was transported to an area trauma center with unspecified injuries.
Preliminary investigations indicated that the Nissan was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of Route 210 when it collided head-on with the Toyota. Authorities believe speed may have been a contributing factor.
Multiple lanes of Indian Head Highway were closed for over two hours as investigators processed the scene. The Maryland State Police Crash Team is conducting the ongoing investigation.
