(BIVN) – A motorcycle crash on Waikoloa Road resulted in one fatality on June 2, according to Hawaiʻi Island police.
Authorities identified the victim as 38-year-old Jessie Lee Stacy, who was involved in a collision with a 2018 Nissan Altima at approximately 5:16 p.m. The driver, a 61-year-old man from California, was making a left turn from Waikoloa Road onto Uluwehi Street when the incident occurred.
Stacy was transported to North Hawaii Community Hospital and later transferred to the Queens Medical Center on Oahu, where he succumbed to his injuries. The Nissan’s driver and a 60-year-old female passenger were uninjured.
The Area II Traffic Enforcement Unit has shifted the investigation from Negligent Injury to Negligent Homicide. Authorities are encouraging witnesses to contact Officer Jason Foxworthy at (808) 326-4646 ext. 229.
This incident marks the 11th traffic fatality on Hawaiʻi Island this year, a decrease from 17 fatalities at the same time last year.
