MURRAY, Neb. (WOWT) — An Omaha woman pleaded no contest to motor vehicle homicide in connection with a fatal motorcycle crash on Sept. 7, 2024.
Shelly Hayes, 55, entered her plea during a court appearance on Tuesday. The incident occurred on Highway 75 near Kenosha Road, approximately four miles south of Beaver Lake.
Authorities said Hayes was driving south on Highway 75 when she attempted to make a turn into a driveway, colliding with a motorcycle operated by 30-year-old Zachariah Unruh of Auburn, Neb.
Unruh was ejected from the motorcycle and was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing a helmet at the time, according to investigators.
Hayes is scheduled for sentencing on April 8.
