Woman Killed in Marcellus Motorcycle Crash

A 55-year-old woman died Sunday morning in a motorcycle crash at the intersection of U.S. Route 20 and Slate Hill Road in Marcellus, according to the New York State Police.

Troopers responded to the collision at about 10:10 a.m. on June 21. Preliminary investigations revealed that Morgan Heise, 18, of Chaumont, was driving a 2024 Subaru northbound on Slate Hill Road. After stopping at the intersection, Heise entered and failed to yield to a 2014 Harley-Davidson motorcycle traveling eastbound.

The impact ejected both occupants of the motorcycle, a 55-year-old male operator and his female passenger. Both were transported to Upstate University Hospital, where the female passenger later succumbed to her injuries. The motorcycle operator remains hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. Heise was uninjured in the incident.

The New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is assisting with the ongoing investigation. The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office, Marcellus Police Department, Marcellus Ambulance, and Marcellus Fire Department provided additional support at the scene.
