Crescent City Girl Dies in Track Incident at AMA Championship
A 14-year-old girl from Crescent City, Florida, died early Monday following a crash during the AMA Flat Track Grand Championship at the Du Quoin State Fairgrounds in southern Illinois.
The incident occurred shortly after midnight during the Mile program. First responders arrived to find the rider, identified as Alyssa Kruppenbacker, suffering from traumatic injuries, according to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department. Air medical assistance was requested as teams worked on-site.
The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) confirmed Kruppenbacker’s death and expressed condolences to her family and the flat track racing community. Hundreds of competitors participated in the weeklong amateur national championship.
Authorities have not disclosed further details regarding the circumstances surrounding the crash. An investigation is ongoing.
