SYRACUSE, Utah (KUTV) — A 17-year-old motorcyclist died following a collision with a car at an intersection in Syracuse on Sunday.
The incident occurred at approximately 2:00 p.m. at the intersection of 1250 West and Antelope Drive. The motorcyclist, identified by family members as Lily May Olsen, was transported to Davis Holy Cross Hospital before being airlifted to Primary Children’s Hospital.
Olsen succumbed to her injuries shortly after the incident. The driver of the car remained at the scene and reportedly did not sustain major injuries.
According to the Syracuse Police Department, an investigation into the crash is ongoing. Authorities have noted they will not release statements regarding potential contributing factors until the investigation concludes.
The Syracuse Police Department expressed condolences, stating, “The loss of a young member of our community is a tragedy,” and extended support to Olsen’s family and friends.
A vigil for Olsen is scheduled for Wednesday, September 30, at 7:00 p.m. at Syracuse High School.
