Motorcyclist Injured in Crash on Cranston Park Avenue.

A motorcyclist sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries Thursday night after colliding with a vehicle on Park Avenue in Cranston.

The incident occurred at approximately 8:55 p.m. as the motorcycle, traveling westbound on Park Avenue, struck a vehicle turning north onto Dyer Avenue, near Honey Dew Donuts. According to Cranston Police Chief Michael Winquist, the impact resulted in the rider being thrown into the windshield of the other vehicle.

Emergency responders transported the rider, who was not wearing a helmet, to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment. The Cranston Police Department’s Traffic Unit is investigating the circumstances of the crash.

Witnesses reported the motorcycle may have been speeding and passing other vehicles shortly before the collision. This detail is still under investigation, and no confirmed cause or fault has yet been determined.

Park Avenue has been the site of other serious accidents in recent years, including a collision in June 2023 involving a motorized bicycle and SUV, which left one person seriously injured. Motorcycle crashes with severe outcomes have also occurred elsewhere in the state.

Rhode Island has experienced fluctuating motorcycle fatality rates. State data shows fatalities ranged from a low of eight in 2024 to a high of 15 in 2023, with preliminary reports for 2025 indicating 10 fatalities so far.

No citations or arrests have been made related to Thursday’s crash, and the investigation is ongoing.
