An 18-year-old Normandy Park driver was killed in a single-vehicle crash on SR 509 in Burien on Sunday night, Dec. 14, 2025.
The incident occurred at approximately 8:14 p.m. near South 160th Street, according to the Washington State Patrol (WSP). The vehicle, traveling southbound, reportedly passed another vehicle on the right shoulder, lost control, struck a tree, hit a building, and then collided with a second tree before coming to a stop facing the wrong way on the shoulder.
Authorities said speed was a contributing factor in the crash. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, and it was confirmed that a seat belt was being worn at the time of the accident. No other injuries were reported.
The involvement of drugs or alcohol remains unknown. The investigation is ongoing, and further details will be released as they become available.
