PETOSKEY — An 18-year-old man died in a two-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle and an SUV on Monday evening at Intertown and Eppler roads, according to the Emmet County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said they responded to the scene at 7:03 p.m. for the collision between a motorcycle and a Toyota 4Runner. The motorcycle driver, identified as Samuel Tyler Gross, succumbed to his injuries.
The 4Runner was driven by 69-year-old Candace Jo Wynn, also from Petoskey. She was transported to McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital but did not sustain injuries.
Speed is believed to be the primary factor in the crash, according to Sheriff Matt Leirstein.
The Emmet County Sheriff’s Office was supported by Emmet County EMS, Resort Bear Creek Fire Department, and Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Police. The investigation is ongoing.
