A 20-year-old man died in a motorcycle crash Saturday night on Interstate 55 in Normal, authorities said.
The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. as a group of motorcycles was traveling north near mile marker 166, between the Main Street and Veterans Parkway exits. According to Illinois State Police, a motorcycle experienced mechanical failure, fell, and was subsequently struck by another bike.
McLean County Coroner Kathleen Yoder confirmed that Caden Lovins of Bloomington was pronounced dead at 7:57 p.m. The coroner reported that Lovins suffered multiple injuries.
Two additional riders sustained injuries and were transported to the hospital. Toxicology tests for Lovins are pending.
The McLean County Coroner’s Office and Illinois State Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
