AUBURN, ME – A 20-year-old motorcyclist died after a crash on Center Street Wednesday afternoon.
At approximately 1:58 p.m., the Auburn Police Department responded to reports of a collision involving a car and motorcycle near 777 Center Street. Preliminary investigations indicate that Alice Houmann, 69, of West Bath, was driving a 2012 Honda Odyssey when she made a left turn from the Lee GMC parking lot onto Center Street.
Witnesses reported that Owen Vinecruz, 20, of Auburn, was traveling north on Center Street on a 1999 Yamaha motorcycle when he collided with Houmann’s vehicle. Houmann was assessed by paramedics at the scene and released.
Vinecruz was transported to Central Maine Medical Center with life-threatening injuries and later transferred to Maine Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The crash is under investigation, and authorities have not determined which party may be at fault.
