Motorcyclist, 22, dies after collision with tractor-trailer on I-4 in Volusia County early Sunday.
VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. —
The crash occurred at approximately 3:46 a.m. near mile marker 122, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Authorities reported that the motorcyclist, an Ormond Beach resident, struck the rear of a tractor-trailer that had stopped due to a prior roadblock from an earlier incident.
Witnesses indicated that the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash but was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders.
The tractor-trailer driver, a 61-year-old from Miami, was unharmed and remained at the scene during the investigation.
Florida Highway Patrol officials confirmed that the incident is still under investigation. Further details regarding lane closures and tows have not been released.
